The Finarte Columbus rug, designed by Eija Rasinmäki in the late 1990s, is one of her very first wool rug designs for Finarte. Its beautiful color palette combines deep and light shades of blue with subtle light beige details, resulting in a harmonious and elegant design.

The inspiration for Columbus came from a view seen from an airplane — the wide blue sea with islands sparkling like lights. This impression, captured in abstract form, gave the rug both its distinctive character and its name, reminiscent of an explorer’s discovery.

Hand-tufted from luxurious thick wool with a sturdy cotton backing, Columbus is naturally dirt repellent, durable, and soft underfoot. Its practical qualities make it suitable for a variety of interiors, from living rooms to bedrooms, while offering timeless beauty for everyday life.

Columbus is part of Finarte’s 40th Anniversary Collection. Each rug in the collection is a true treasure from the archives. With their timeless appeal, these designs have remained effortlessly beautiful for decades and will continue to inspire for many years to come.

Please note that this Columbus rug is sold in a used, preloved condition. The rug is a sample piece that has been used in photoshoots and at the Habitare fair. During the fair, the rug was partially mounted to a wall, resulting in a hole caused by a screw. For preloved products, any potential defects have already been reflected in the price, and the product is not eligible for exchange, return, or complaint regarding these issues.
